We had a ton of great questions for the conference call this morning and a reoccurring theme was what/how should you be sharing program like Johnsonville and MyPlate on your social channels (Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter) so I wanted to breakdown a “good post” on each channel and why there are the specific #’s and @’s. Check it out below!
"Made the switch from ground beef to Italian Sausage and my family loved it! @Johnsonville #jvillekitchens”- @Johnsonville will become a link that leads back to Johnsonville’s board on Pinterest
- #jvillekitchens will become a searchable term on Pinterest, clickable link to view other pins with the same hashtag, and Johnsonville will be able to track this hastag internally for reporting purposes.
Posts on Pinterest | MyPlate
“Great breakfast idea from @allrecipes.com #myplate” or “#MyPlate recipe great for brunch @allrecipes.com”
- @Allrecipes.com will become a link that leads back to Allrecipes.com’s board on Pinterest
- #MyPlate will become a searchable term on Pinterest, clickable link to view other pins with the same hashtag, and we will be able to track this hastags internally for reporting purposes.
Pinterest Note: Hashtags are also great to use to highlight other things about your pin, like #fruit, #cake, #slowcooker
Posts on Instagram
“Received a great thank you gift today! @allrecipes #jvillekitchens”
- @allrecipes will lead to Allrecipes homepage on Instagram
- #jvillekitchens will become a searchable term on Instagram, clickable link to view other photos with the same hashtag, and Johnsonville will be able to track this hastag internally for reporting purposes.
You can use the same methodology with #MyPlate or using the @ to tag other users and brands
Posts on Twitter
- @MyPlate will become a link back to MyPlate’s Twitter account
- #MyPlate will become a clickable link to view other tweets with the same hashtag, searchable term on Twitter, and we will be able to track this hastags internally for reporting purposes.
- Use @Allrecipes or #Allrecipes the same way!

Takeaway...
No matter what social channel you choose, remember "#" aka hash tags allow you to create a searchable, clickable term and emphasis something, like #MyPlate, #JvilleKitchens, #StPatticksDay, or even #shoes! Using an "@" allows you to mention a specific brand or person, like @Allrecipes or @MyPlate.
Stay social Allstars!
