- Share your life! People like to hear human details. Who did you cook for? Why do you love deep-frying your turkey? Blogging is a personal thing, so be personal. Lace your blog with personal memories, too. Stories of your favorite aunt (and her coffee cake). They’re endearing and relatable.
- Make your title something specific and food-related, like “Making Ham and Eggs for Tom and the Kids” rather than something generic like “Sunday’s Family Breakfast” or unclear like “OHHH WOW YUMMM!” Consider the outrageous portion of your blog to pull out a headline. Hook your readers!
- Photos. If it's about making a recipe, they have all the steps. If it's about dinner, the food photos are really clear and interesting.
- What’s the top? Something like "The 7 Best/Most/Top/Easiest Holiday Snacks" is always going to catch someone’s eye. Also, Top 10 is nice and round, but if you say "8," people think you're really discerning, and if you say "12" people wonder what's extra.
- Discoveries/New Experiences. The whole "We tried this for the first time and its amazing" kind of thing. People want to know better food to make and better ways to make it. So tell them what you found and how you did it.
- Keep at it! People come back to blogs when they can expect frequent new posts. Two 150-word posts a week is much better than one 300-word post a week, and MUCH better than one 1200-word post a month. Don’t be shy about sharing more!
