Hey Allstars,
Hope you all day a wonderful weekend! With the announcement of the Allrecipes 15th birthday celebration here in Seattle, I wanted to take a few moments to address all of your questions to ensure a clear and convince understanding of the scavenger hunt activities and a few questions about the trip/event itself.
If you do not find the answers to your questions, please let me know and I will do my best to answer them all.

Alright, here we go!

100% completion of all of April’s required activities for both Real Butter and Al Fresco.
Q: What activities are required for April?
A: For there are 5 activities we are requiring for you to complete:
  1. Prepare any recipe from Go Bold With Butter and share it with you personal network (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Intagram, the Buzz, personal or AR blog, etc.).
  2. Write a blog post sharing your favorite experience, recipe, or memory using butter. (Please note, as an Allstar everyone has been provisioned with a free Supporting Membership which allows you to have a blog on Allrecipes.com ­­­- if you go not have your own personal blog off-site, please use this great feature for this activity.)
  3. Take this survey all about your experience with Butter.
  4. Prepare, rate, review, and photograph 3 recipes from any of the 21 Al Fresco recipes on allrecipes.com*Please note, if you do not have access to all of the Al Fresco flavors or products, you can substitute a different meat product in the Al Fresco recipes. Unable to get the exact flavor/ product that the recipe calls for? No worries use what you have been able to get or have on hand.
  5. Take this survey to tell Al Fresco what your family and friends had to say the product/ recipes.


Of the 16 international sites, which of them is closest to your family’s roots? Subscribe to one of the site’s newsletter. What county did you pick?
Q: I do not speak the language that my family is from, what should I do?
A: Check out the international version of Allrecipes that is closest to your family’s roots, maybe you see a picture of a recipe that you would want to try or learn more about. Use a tool like Google Translator to help decipher the recipe. Is your web browsers Google Chrome? It will automatically translate the page for you.

Did you know you can search the full collection of recipes without leaving Facebook? Share your results.
Q: I do not have a Facebook account, what can I do?
A: The great thing about the Allrecipes.com Facebook page is that you to NOT have to be on Facebook to use the new search function.  To try it out, click this link, do a search just like you would normally do on Allrecipes.com and post the URL link in the scavenger hunt activity sheet check list.

Watch how to shake, stir, or blend up a favorite cocktail on the Home Happy Hour video series. Pick your favorite and give your bartending skills a try. Post a photo of yourself making your cocktail and share it on Allrecipes.com as a personal photo.
Q: What if I don’t drink?
A: If you do not drink, please feel free to share the cocktail with someone who does or make it a mock tail.

Q: I just got done watching some of the Home Happy Hour videos and noticed that my favorite drink is not featured, can I make a different cocktail?
A: If you favorite drink is not on the Home Happy Hour video series, no worries! Make your favorite drink instead.

Wear your apron while picking up a few groceries, in an iconic location in your town, or doing your favorite activity. Take a picture and share on Allrecipes.com as a personal photo.
Q: Do I have to wear an Allrecipes.com apron?
A: You do not have to wear an Allrecipes.com apron. It can be ANY apron that you choose (chef jackets are okay too!).

Meet and greet a fellow Allstar that you have not had the chance to connect with from another region.
Q: Do I physically have to meet this person? What does “connecting” with this personal actually entail?
A: There is NO traveling required to for this activity, it is all about virtually meeting a fellow Allstar that you may have not had a chance to connect with which means sending them an email or Facebook message, adding them to the “Cooks you Like”, commenting on their blog, etc. Have someone in mind that you would like to “meet” but are unsure how to make that connection? Let me know and I can help with the exchange of Allrecipes.com cooks profiles, Facebook profiles, blogs, email, etc.

Help us “toast” Allrecipes.com’s 15th birthday by finding our celebration logo in a recipe collection.
Q: Is the logo up yet?
A: Starting Tuesday, April 17th you will be able to find the logo on the beverage recipe collection that you toast with.

Q: What is a recipe collection?
A: A recipe collection is a collection of recipes that allows narrowing your search on things like dishes, ingredients, lifestyle, holiday, etc.

Q: How do I find a recipe collection?
A: Let’s use ‘bread’ as an example…
  • Do a search for bread in the search bar on Allrecipes.com.
  • When the search results appear, you will see a list of recipe but also on the top of the page you will see video, tips and advice, as well a collection for the term you searched.
  • Click on the “Collection” and viola you are in the bread recipe collection!
  • From here, you are also able to browse deeper by type of breads and other categories.


Other Questions…
Q: For the two photos that I need to take of myself (apron and mixing a drink) I am worried about getting a good photograph… any suggestions?
A: Give your photographer a quick “how to”, put your camera on ALL auto settings, and hope for the best!

Q:  Does the airfare only include my ticket?
A: Yes, the airfare that Allrecipes is providing will only cover your personal costs. Any additional flights for a companion (spouse, child, etc.) will be at your cost and need to be arranged by you.

Q. Can I extend my trip to Seattle?
A: Of course, Seattle is a beautiful city and makes for a great vacation! Allrecipes will be paying for your flight in and out of Seattle and your hotel stay during the event. If you are interested in flying in early or staying past the event, just let us know your date ranges as soon as possible so we can schedule all of the flights accordingly.
